Google Fiber coming to Trimble Creek HOA

Dear Homeowners,

We have the option to have Google Fiber installed in our community at no charge.  Below is what is involved for the installation.  We understand that having this installed will slightly increase the value of our homes.  If you have noticed they are currently working on all the streets in our neighborhood, outside the gate. Since they are working in the area we have decided to move forward with the installation.

  • They will dig up the asphalt a 1 to 2 inches wide and 12 inches deep to install the fiber along the road.  Once completed they will fill in with cement for the winter.  They will return in the Spring and place asphalt over that area.  This is guaranteed for 2 years. See below for photos.
  • They will place a box in every other front yard that is 12 inches x 12 inches and looks like a sprinkler box.  These would be placed at their discretion and we will not have a say in where they would be placed.

After this is installed we would have two options to purchase their services and would vote on this as a community.  Homeowners could purchase on an individual basis at $70.00 per month for 1 gig upload and download and if they wanted a higher speed they would have to pay more.  Or as a community we could purchase in bulk which would be around $45.00 per month for 1 gig upload and download.  If as a community we voted on the bulk rate that would mean we would have to pay through the HOA and Google Fiber would be added to our monthly fee’s.  Either way this will give all of us more options rather than just Comcast and there is a possibility they would lower their rates due to competition.  Additional information below and photos.

Thank you,

Trimble Creek HOA

Here is the information from Google Fiber

Google Fiber infrastructure is coming to your area!

We’d love to connect your neighborhood with our 99.999% reliable internet connection. With Google Fiber, home and business customers can choose between our 1, 2, and 5 gig products based on their needs. All of our products include:

  • Straight forward pricing – no annual contracts, no data caps, no hidden fees. $70 for 1gig, $100 for 2gig, and $125 for 5gig
  • Faster internet speeds – up to 77x faster uploads and 12x faster downloads (1gig, 2gig, and 5gig options as well as phone and tv options)
  • Strong, steady, secure connections – 99.999% reliability with (way) fewer points of failure than cable internet
  • Stellar customer service – 24/7 Customer service
  • Property Value – On average, having fiber to a property increases its value by 2-5%

Okay – that’s Google Fiber in a nutshell. But what does that mean for your community? In order for all residents to be eligible for service, we must first install our network. For private roads or easements, we are unable to perform our construction without written permission which comes in the form of a Right of Entry (ROE) agreement. We understand how important your property is to you. We also want our installation process to be as smooth as possible. To make this happen, here’s what we promise:

  • No connection/ buildout cost – We install a brand new fiber-optic network at no cost to any resident.
  • No exclusivity – We want to be an option for your residents, not the only option.
  • No commitment – Residents are under no obligation to use our service.
  • No worries – Our construction is done as efficiently as possible and whatever we disturb (sidewalk, curbing, soft scape, etc.) will be restored/repaired. We warranty our work for 2 years.

Normally the construction is done by digging a shallow (12”) micro-trench into the roadbase. The trench itself is roughly 1-2” wide and will be placed at the periphery of the road (sample image attached). Between every few homes we place a small drop box the size of a sprinkler box (green and flush with the ground) or we will bury the connection without a box. Once the cabling is in place, we seal it all back-up with a backfill and road sealant (sample images also attached). Residents will then have the option of signing up for Google Fiber internet services at their discretion. I have included a couple photos from recent construction.  Let me know as soon as possible if you would like to bring Google Fiber to your road.
